Ten convicted of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has ruled against ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced charges of circulating untruths regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to making hurtful comments about the couple's significant age difference.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A longstanding false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's gender.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these claims on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
